Christy Dignam has revealed he’s now undergoing another round of chemotherapy, after falling ill again.
The singer has been battling a rare form of blood cancer for the last number of years, but while he had been doing well, knew something wasn’t right a few weeks ago.
Speaking on the Six O’Clock Show, he said, “How it presents with me is my breathing starts going. That’s how I knew there was something wrong.
“It was birthday on the 23th May and I did a bit of a concert outside the house for some of the neighbours and I knew during that my breathing wasn’t great.
“So that’s why I actually rang the hospital because I kind of had a feeling myself.”
Christy usually goes to London for tests and treatment, but due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, hasn’t been able to travel for some time.
“I give bloods all the time and the Royal’s for me monitor the bloods and they give the prognosis to Beaumont.
“So because none of that was happening the cancer was progressing and progressing so I just knew in myself the way I felt that it had come back.”
He went on to say, “I rang my oncologist two weeks ago on Monday and he said to come in tomorrow morning at nine o’clock.
“As soon as he said that I knew what it was probably because he wouldn’t have gotten me in the hospital so quick. So they started me back on treatment straight away.”
