Operation Transformation leader Chris McElligot has been going from strength to strength each week on the show, having already lost over 15 pounds. However, after two weeks of success the Dubliner has suffered a set back with his health.

As an amputee Chris has an extra worry with his mobility when exercising, which is a key part of his Operation Transformation journey. His weight loss has been forcing his limb to expand, causing him discomfort. Despite this though, the dad-of-three is determined to make progress.

On last night’s programme he said, “After last week’s weigh-in I’m ten and a half pounds down. I’m extremely delighted with that but on the flip side of that it also brings its own problems. The socket inside the leg is a lot wider so there’s a lot more movement in it.”

Fitness coach Karl Henry told the leader that although his determination is admirable, he will be halting his exercise regime this week due to safety reasons.

“In 14 days, the progress you have made is absolutely staggering. From a weight perspective you’re 15 and a half pounds, from an inch loss perspective you’re 15 and a half inches. They are spectacular numbers for absolutely anybody but particularly for you.

“You’ve got traits that I absolutely admire. You are driven, you’re determined, you’re giving it your all but our role here is to guide you through the show because the things that you learn here will help keep you healthy, keep you safe for the rest of your life.

“This week I’m going to apply the brakes a little bit. I think you’re doing too much. There’s lots of other stuff creeping in. The leg’s really sore, you’re looking a little bit tired but yet you go and do it anyway but the issue with that is that leads to one place – to over training or injury and I want to avoid that.

“Over the course of the next week I want you to learn the word ‘no’ but the ability and the power of the word ‘no’ will keep you healthier for longer,” he said on last night’s programme.
