Charlie Bird is preparing for a parachute jump with football manager Mick McCarthy.
After a monumentally successful charity hike which saw him raise over €3 million euro for The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta, Charlie is now ready to take on his next challenge.
The broadcaster who is living with Motor Neurone Disease is planning the jump for this July. Sharing his ‘mad’ idea on Twitter he said:
“Some more good news. Another One hundred thousand is being donated to climbwithcharlie. We are now heading to three and a quarter million euro. Wow.
“I have come up with a mad idea and this is not a joke doing Parachute Jump in July with a person I met recently. A Clue Saipan!”

Shortly after, Charlie revealed that the mystery celeb he’s teaming up with for the jump is none other than legendary football manager Mick McCarthy.
In an update video he said:
“Yes, you have read correctly, Mick McCarthy, the former Irish soccer manager. There is an interesting story to this but that is for another time.
“I am just looking for one sponsor to make it happen. Again, all money raised will go to charity.”
Fans immediately took to the comments section to praise Charlie and his dedication to raising money for a good cause.
“Aww Charlie you are a wonderful human being an inspiration to us all” wrote one person.
“You’ve single handedly lifted up the nation, a massive thank you. You are some man, upwards and onwards,” commented another.
