Cathy Kelly has revealed the news that she has split from her husband, John Sheehan after ten years together. The couple wed back in 2010 after many years together, but the Irish author has shared that they went their separate ways in September 2020.
The 55-year-old, who is currently appearing on the new season of Dancing with the Stars, spoke to the Irish Mirror about theirs split, revealing that the couple’s priority now is their twin boys.
“John and I have split up. It’s been over a year and four months now. We’ve both moved on and have had time to come to terms with it. For us, the most important thing is our sons and they remain our priority.”
Continuing, she spoke about how the upheaval is a lot to come to terms with but that she’s excited for this new chapter in her life; “Obviously, it is incredibly sad to split with someone you’ve been with for so long.
“I’m in a new phase of life with Dancing With The Stars and my 22nd book is coming out in June. It’s a great start to 2022.”
“I have in my head what I want to do and achieve and what my goals are and an enormous part of that is happiness and family. I’ve always been family-oriented, but the pandemic shows you what’s important – simple things, like the people you love being safe.”
Cathy made her dancing debut over the weekend on RTE’s Dancing with the Stars which saw her take to the dance floor with pro-dancer, Maurizio Benenato. They danced the Cha Cha Cha to the classic How Will I Know by Whitney Houston.
The couple scored a 14 from the judges with Arthur praising Cathy’s personality on the floor; “We all felt the sass in the room, honestly, that was brilliant. I have a new title for your book ‘The Girl in the Pink Dress’, welcome to your new chapter.”
