Sile Seoige has issued an emotional plea, begging people up and down the country – and further afield – to “stop this obsession with perfection” and embrace who they are.
She has called for people to stop using filters and distorting how they look online, instead, allowing their true selves to shine.
“It’s made me feel very emotional, quite angry and also responsible because the truth is we are all responsible for this,” she said through tears.
“I’m talking about social media filters, apps that distort your body – make you look slimmer, bigger, whatever it is. And I’ve been victim to them too. I’m not saying I’m perfect.
“We need to look out for our kids, particularly girls that are falling into the trap of feeling like they’re not good enough. We’re all good enough.”

Sile, who is a mother herself, asked people to consider setting an example for young people.
She said, “I have spots at the moment. I am looking so tired, I’m wrinkly, so the f*** what? It’s real. It’s who I am. It’s where I’m at. Can we embrace who we are?
“Can we just stop using filters? Everyone knows you’re using one. It gives a messed up idea in your mind that you’re not good enough as you are, but you are good enough.
“We’re sending a f***** up signal to our kids. What is this doing to our kids? We need to do better for them and set an example.
“I’m extremely emotional. We have to stop this obsession with perfection. It doesn’t exist and it’s harming our kids. It’s harming us. It’s harming everybody. We all need to play our part here.”
