“Brilliant”: Viewers praise Louise O’Neill’s Asking For It documentary

Louise O’Neill, author of Asking For It, debuted her documentary of the same name on RTE 2 last night and it gained a lot of positive attention.

The hour-long documentary followed on from Louise’s award-winning book, and provided viewers with some shocking statistics and stories about rape culture in Ireland, and the issue of consent.

The 31-year-old spoke to victims of sexual assault, students, legal professionals and activists during the documentary and gave the audience an incredible amount of knowledge on a matter that affects so many in Ireland.

Viewers took to Twitter last night to praise the programme, including a number of Irish celebrities such as Maia Dunphy, Bressie and Louise McSharry.

Louise herself took to social media to thank those who tuned in, and urged them to keep talking about the problem. On Twitter she wrote, “Thanks to everyone who watched and tweeted. Let’s keep this conversation going. #AskingForIt.”

Currently the conversation does continue as #AskingForIt has been trending on Twitter since last night.
