The sense of loss after losing your mother always feels huge, but it’s often in the big moments in life that we miss them most. For Brian Dowling that is certainly the case as he opened up about missing his late mum a lot at the moment after revealing he is expecting his first child.
Sharing a snap of himself and his six sisters he said; “First up I feel looking at this picture there should me more of us, I’m actually thinking who’s missing. As most of you know I’m SUPER LUCKY to be BLESSED with 6 AMAZING sisters. We have been through it all together. Of course there have been situations over the years where we didn’t agree but we ALWAYS got back on the same page together.”
“We are the way we are with each other because of one person & that’s our incredible mother. Every one of us is an extension of her. Mum has been on my mind a lot lately, especially with our INCREDIBLE baby news.”
Brian’s mother, Rosie passed away suddenly in 2018 at the age of 61, and he often speaks about her loss, even starting his podcast Death Becomes Him to speak with others about grief.
Continuing, the presenter spoke about how he images she would feel after hearing his fantastic baby news; “I can only imagine what she would be like now, especially with @effidy_dowling_ AMAZING involvement. Her excitement would be through the roof with a new grandchild on the way.”
“With these 6 ladies surrounding me I know we are in SUPER SAFE hands & they will give me the BEST ADVICE EVER plus think of all the free baby sitting! Combined they have raised 8 WONDERFUL children & counting.
“The advice & help they will give @gourounlian & I is PRICELESS. As our mum would say it really does take a village.”

Brian and his husband, Arthur Gourounlian had previously shared that they were hoping to start a family through surrogacy and earlier this week they announced that they were expecting their first child.
The couple then revealed their surrogates identity, and it is Brian’s sister Aoife who is carrying their child. Paying tribute to her Brian said; “Not only is this my BEAUTIFUL sister Aoife, she is also our INCREDIBLE Surrogate. From our very first conversation about this back in 2019 to where we are now is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.”
Continuing to gush about Aoife the presenter shared; “whether it is mentally or physically & you have stayed so POSITIVE & UPBEAT through it all. From Ultra Sounds & Ovulation tests to numerous conversations about your Cycle to those 4 positive pregnancy tests we took where the 3 of us hugged & cried with happiness & excitement.”
“We have been through every step of this together reassuring each other along the way that everything will be fine once we stick together. Aoife you are an INSPIRATION to all of us. You are literally giving us THE GIFT OF LIFE.”
