There’s no slowing down for Mrs Brown’s Boys, as show creator, Brendan O’Carroll vows to keep the sitcom going for as long as possible.
Yes, the TV funnyman, plans to keep writing and starring in new episodes every time he is offered a deal by BBC.
The news comes off the back of Mrs Brown’s Boys annual Christmas and New Year specials, as well as a mini-series which aired back in autumn of last year.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Brendan revealed: “As long as the BBC keep asking, we’ll keep making episodes.
“It’s down to what the BBC want and what we can plan around.
“We are definitely making more specials. Whether we do another full series or not depends on dates,” he added.
Brendan then admitted that he initially signed up to do 18 episodes across three years, however coming into the new year they will be celebrating the show’s 50th episode.
Since its launch in 2011, it’s safe to say, Mrs Brown’s Boys has become one of the most successful sitcoms in TV history.
With a string of awards, a spin-off movie and a stage show already under their belt, Brendan went on to share how he can’t quite believe the success of the show.
Adding: “I’d love to say I’m so clever that I sat down and had a plan.
“I had no plan. Nobody is as surprised by it all as me.”
Stepping into the New Year, Mrs Brown’s Boys has been given another plum primetime slot at 10pm on BBC One.
