Brendan Courtney has opened up about how he really felt about hosting his own chat show back in the day, admitting that he hated doing so.
Yes, the Keys to My Life host presented The Brendan Courtney Show on Virgin Media, then known as TV3, from 2005 to 2006.
However, it was not the experience he hoped it would be.
Speaking at the launch of Shine A Light to Support Families Experiencing Homelessness, Brendan told the Irish Mirror: “I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, across the board. I actually hated that show.

“The Brendan Courtney Show at Howl At The Moon. We gave a car away at every show. A car,” he added in disbelief.
“I absolutely hated doing that show because I wasn’t ready for it and my opinions weren’t fully formed.
“I was living the high life in London, doing the fashion programme for BBC. They kept pushing me into doing comedy and I didn’t want to do comedy.”
Despite not enjoying his time on the Brendan Courtney Show, Brendan did share that he feels much more “in the zone” when he fills in on RTE Radio 1 for presenters such as Oliver Callan and Ray D’Arcy.
“When I’m on radio, I’m confident with how my voice sounds and what I’m saying but I wasn’t confident when I did that chat show. I wasn’t ready for it.
“That’s probably why the whole experience was a bit of a nightmare, really, because I wasn’t in the zone.”
Before concluding the interview, Brendan also noted that he’s not as “hungry” as he once was and as a result is a lot more chill when it comes to his career.
That’s the spirit Brendan!
