Bord Gáis Energy Theatre recently launched a nationwide dance competition to celebrate the upcoming Irish premiere of Billy Elliot.
The grand finale of the competition took place at the weekend, and the finalists battled it out in front of a celeb panel for a chance to attend the Irish premiere of Billy Elliot the musical at the BGET this summer.
The judging panel on the day included Stephen Faloon, general manager of the Bord Gais Energy theatre, RTE Swipe TV presenter Simon Mulcahy and pop singer, Bonnie Ryan.
The event was hosted by none other than Snapchat sensation and blogger James Butler.
The young hopefuls performed for the judges, but in the end it was Dylan Stoeckhardt from Westside Stage School in Lucan who took home the prize.
Based on the highly successful film, the show is set in a northern mining town against the background of the 1984/’85 miners’ strike and follows Billy’s journey from boxing to ballet class where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and whole community, while changing his life forever.
Billy Elliot will run from July 26th-September 3rd, tickets are available here.
