Bear Grylls paid a touching tribute to Coast Guard volunteer Caitríona Lucas, who sadly passed away following a rescue operation earlier this week on The Late Late Show last night.

The devoted volunteer had been searching for missing teacher David McMahon when when her vessel capsized. The adventurer praised Caitríona for her selfless work.

“It’s the unsung heroes of both of our worlds.” He told Ryan.

“I see it with the Scouts, just regular people giving up so much to help other people.  It’s the magic of volunteering. It’s unpaid and you’re doing it from the goodness of your heart.”

“All of our hearts go out to her family … [Her] legacy goes on because of what she has done.”
