Aoibhin Garrihy has opened up about life in lockdown, revealing she’s missing her family and their incredible support.
The BEO founder is currently based in Ennis Co. Clare with her husband John and their two children Hanorah and Liobhan.
Her parents Clare and Eugene plus her sisters Doireann and Ailbhe are in Dublin so they can’t travel to see each other, and while John’s family are living in Clare, they haven’t seen much of each other either due to currently lockdown restrictions.
Speaking to Maura Derane and Daithi O’Se on the Today Show, Aoibhin said, “There’s no two ways around it, it’s tough without the support of family around.
“My gang are all in Dublin. John’s are in Spanish Point but with lockdown we’re all being as safe as we possibly can be, we’re not seeing them.”
Aoibhin admits it’d be great to have them around for some additional support and just to be with her children as they grow up.
“It does take a village and particularly when you’re working. It can be tough at the best of times,” she said.
“The girls [Doireann and Ailbhe] were so involved in Hanorah’s life. I was in Dublin once or twice a week and the girls were great when I needed to head up for work. They were always there to lend a hand. Not to have that, I’ve definitely felt it.”
Aoibhin added, “And look, we all miss our families. It’s a sacrifice everyone has made I suppose to try and keep this thing at bay.
“I guess it’s one day at a time. We’re wading through at the moment and we’re trying to do what we can but it’s not easy.”
