Ireland’s Fittest Family coach Anna Geary has revealed that this season is the most intense yet, as the cast and crew are racing to get filming finished for the show amid the pandemic.
Filming for the new season kicked off last month, with Anna, Derval O’Rourke, Davy Fitzgerald and Donncha O’Callaghan back in action as coaches, but filming has now intensified to ensure the season gets finished.
Speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror, Anna shared: “It’s been busy, but it is really good. It’s an intense schedule to kind of get everything filmed as quickly as possible.
“And with the Covid team involved, it just means there’s so many safety procedures to take place.
“Normally it would be a longer process, with more breaks in between, but I suppose they know that the quicker they can get it done and dusted and wrapped the better and the safer.”
Sharing that the families now have an even bigger challenge on their hands, with less recovery time before the shortened schedule, Anna continued, “It’s intense. But the coaches have an easy job. It’s the families, and the competition this year is huge. They obviously have less time to recover between each round.”
Explaining that the mix of weather also makes it a challenge, from a week-long heatwave to thunder and lightning, she added: “It was a bit of everything. So you were packing the rain jacket and sun cream and the umbrella and sunglasses.”
