Anna Geary has shared a candid insight into the personal journey behind her book, Anna’s Game Plan, reflecting on the self-doubt, fear and perseverance that shaped its creation.
In a recent Instagram post, the broadcaster and wellbeing advocate admitted that negative self-talk was a constant presence throughout the process, but she chose to push forward regardless.
“The negative self-talk was loud… but I did it anyway,” she began.
Anna revealed that much of the book was written while she was heavily pregnant, before being edited with a newborn baby in her arms.

Looking back, she described the experience as challenging but deeply rewarding.
“Then this time last year the paperback version of ‘Anna’s Game Plan’ was released and ‘No1 Bestseller’ was emblazoned across the front cover! Quite surreal,” she added.
Describing the book as one about navigating life, Anna explained that it focuses on learning how to back yourself, cope with setbacks and deal with disappointment.
She was also open about the doubts she faced while writing it, including worries about judgment and not being “good enough”.

When her son Ronan was just a few months old, Anna went on to record the audiobook, admitting she was exhausted and emotional at the time, but once again committed to seeing it through.
Reflecting on the experience, Anna said the process challenged her in ways she never expected, drawing parallels with motherhood and the importance of continuing to show up, even in moments of uncertainty.
She ended her post by sharing the message she returns to time and again: “You don’t have to feel ready. You just have to start… and keep going.”
