Animated Irish film nominated in the 2021 Oscars

Oscar season is a little late this year, like everything else it’s scheduling has been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The nominees for this year’s ceremony have been announced, an animated Irish film is up for one of the prestigious awards.

The movie, Wolfwalkers, was made by Cartoon Saloon, an Irish animation studio. This is the company’s third fourth nomination in the Best Animated Feature category.

Produced in Kilkenny, it is fantastic to see Irish talent recognised at the Oscars, especially one based so heavily on Irish folklore.

The full list of nominees has been released today ahead of the 93rd Academy Awards which will air on the 26th of April.
