An Antrim student is joining The Great British Bake Off this year

The Great British Bake-Off is returning for another season, and this year a student from Antrim will be entering the baking tent.

23-year-old student Rebs is taking on the Bake-Off. She might be one of the younger contestants but has plenty of experience, having been baking since she was just three-years-old. With her earliest memory being helping her mum in the kitchen, and eating her granny’s signature lemon meringue pies.

She is extremely proud of her Irish heritage being an Irish dancer and playing the tin whistle.

But when it comes to her baking, Rebs isn’t afraid to try flavours from further a field. Being particular fond of Middle Eastern ingredients and recipes in a nod to her boyfriend, Jack’s Turkish heritage.

Rebs will be joined in the Bake-Off tent by 11 other bakers:

Abdul – a 29-year-old Electronics Engineer from London.

Carole – a 59-year-old Supermarket Cashier from Dorset.

Dawn – a 60-year-old IT Manager from Bedfordshire.

James – a 25-year-old Nuclear Scientist from Cumbria.

Janusz – a 34-year-old Personal Assistant to Head Teacher from East Sussex.

Kevin – a 33-year-old Music Teacher from Lanarkshire.

Maisam – a 18-year-old Student and Sales Assistant from Greater Manchester.

Maxy – a 29-year-old Architectural Assistant from London.

Sandro – a 30-year-old Nanny from London.

Syabira – a 32-year-old Cardiovascular Research Associate from London.

Will – a 45- year-old former Charity Director from London.
