Paul Mescal hosted SNL this weekend, in case you didn’t know.
And after watching it’s safe to say our Paul knows how to keep an audience well entertained. Here’s a recap of the main bits you missed if you didn’t tune in on Saturday.
There’s no place like Rome
Gladiator 2, which Paul starred in, has been getting so much praise since its release last month, similar to musicals like Wicked and Moana 2. And The Gladiator skit suggests that if Gladiator had been a musical then it may have gotten even more traction.
Paul put together a hilarious piece showcasing Gladiator The Musical with songs and dance numbers that could have been featured in such a movie.

Spotify Wrapped
It’s that time of year again, and luckily for Paul, Spotify Wrapped landed just before his episode on SNL.
The Irish actor wasn’t shy about sharing his Spotify Wrapped with special guests Trisha Paytas and comedian Bowen Yang (iconic), making his top podcast of the year.

Earring gate
This skit consisted of Paul acting as a college student who has just returned home for the holidays and to his parents’ disgust, has returned with an earring.
When he says that it’s “just an earring, most people think it’s cool”, the parents go insane over the piercing and begin to threaten their son with all the things they will do to be ‘cool’. “Would it be cool if I peed all over the floor?” said the mother.
When Paul accuses the parents of being homophobic the mother replies: “ You think we’re homophobic? Your father has been gay for fifteen years”.
American comedy, right?

Pasta anyone?
In this bit, while shooting a commercial with another actor for an Italian restaurant, Paul starts to get jealous when the newbie starts to get more attention due to her comedic improv.
When he also tries to switch up the script it seriously fails and no one else on set is impressed by him. Oh, Paul.

Paul did an amazing job on SNL and we think he has absolutely gained the respect of its American audience. Not only can he act, he can also sing, dance AND host.
Does anyone know if he does weddings?
