Are Barry and Sabrina officially over?
Rumours have swirled that their whirlwind romance has come to an end. Please, please, please, don’t let these rumours be true!
The couple have been linked since 2023 and “hard launched” their romance in Sabrina’s music video.
Sabrina released the music video for her new song ‘Please, Please, Please’ on the 7th of June. The video features Barry being arrested numerous times before being released and driven away by his love interest played by Sabrina herself. The steamy and bad boy-esque music video delighted fans who have become invested in the pair’s relationship.
To save you the trouble of finding out how ‘Bar-Ina’ became a thing we did some sleuthing of our own and have put together a timeline of events leading up to the couple’s very public hard launch and the split rumours.
16th August 2024: Break up rumours
Unfortunately rumours have plagued the couple about the end of their romance.
Blind gossip site Deux Moi stated they had split, saying that Sabrina ended things with the Irish man.
However, Barry was quick to like Sabrina’s latest Instagram post which threw a spanner in the break-up reports.
PEOPLE Magazine is reporting that the relationship is “on and off”.
7th August 2024: Sabrina praises Barry
When Sabrina sat down with Variety, she couldn’t help but gush about Barry. And we don’t blame her!
Speaking about getting Barry to star in her music video, she said: “He loved the song. He’s obsessed with the lyrics, and I’m so grateful for that.
“I don’t want to sound biased, but I think he’s one of the best actors of this generation. So getting to see him on the screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video better and all the more special.”
18th June 2024: Sabrina dodges romance question
She was asked by Rolling Stone about her romance with Barry Keoghan which has seen them flirt on social media, take to the red carpet together and even star in her music video together.
However, Sabrina said: “How do I skirt around this question?”
She went on to say: “The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do.
“Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about. That’s something that comes with the territory.”
7th June 2024: Please, Please, Please
Sabrina, who has previously been linked to Treat You Better singer, Shawn Mendes released her song and music video Please, Please, Please starring Barry as her love interest. The song features a line saying: “I heard you’re an actor, so act like a stand-up guy” clearly referring to the actor’s occupation.
6th May 2024: Barry and Sabrina make an appearance at the Met Gala
Like Elon Musk and Grimes in 2018 or Selena Gomez and The Weeknd, many couples have chosen this prestigious event to make their relationship red carpet official.
The couple first posed separately with Barry sporting a velvet Burberry suit and Sabrina looking dreamy in an Oscar De la Renta gown featuring a black bodice and puffy satin skirt. The couple then made their debut together at the top of the famous Met steps.
14th April 2024: Sabrina puts on a show at Coachella, whilst Barry cheers her on in the crowd
The former Disney Channel actress cheekily waves at Barry as he stands in the crowd during her performance in the Californian desert.
12th April 2024: Barry Comments under Sabrina’s Instagram Post
Rumours of the couple’s relationship skyrocketed when the Irish actor commented: “Tuuuuunnne M’darlin !!” under the singer’s Instagram post captioned: “My give f**ks are on vacation… espresso is out now”. The comment garnered over 20k likes.

10th March 2024: Vanity Fair Oscars After Party
The famous couple posed together for the first time at the Vanity Fair Oscar’s After Party. Barry, who shares son Brando with ex-girlfriend Alyson Sandro, was pictured wearing a Sabrina Carpenter friendship bracelet in the snap.

2nd March 2024: Barry supports Sabrina as she performs with Taylor Swift in Singapore
Barry nearly stole the most supportive boyfriend title from Taylor’s own Beau, Travis Kelce. He is spotted cheering and singing along as the Nonsense singer put on a spectacular show during Taylor’s Eras tour in Singapore.

24th February 2024: Barry comments with queen emoji
On the 24th of February, eagle-eyed fans spotted Keoghan’s comments of a queen emoji under Sabrina’s Instagram.
The post was a sweet tribute to the Anti-Hero singer, as the pair are pictured singing Taylor’s song ‘White Horse’ together.

9th February 2024: The couple are spotted together in LA
The Banshees of Inisherin actor and the former Girl Meets World star were spotted on a date night in the Japanese restaurant, Nobu, before heading to the Hotel BelAir.

15th January 2024: The rumoured couple are pictured at Luna Luna in LA
According to People Magazine, the couple enjoyed each other’s company at the interactive art museum, Luna Luna. A source told the magazine that “it definitely seemed like a date”.
28th September 2023: The couple reportedly meet for the first time
