If you’re anything like us, you just feel better when you’re tanned.
Sometimes you can’t beat basking in the sun on a hot day, but as we all know, we can’t be relying on sunshine everyday.
So what do us Irish gals do to achieve that sun kissed glow? We use self-tan, of course.
Here are some of our best tips for achieving that perfect self-tan this summer, with some of our favourite products too…
1. Remove old tan
The most important thing to do before you apply self-tan is to make sure that you haven’t got any old tan on.
If your skin is not completely clean, your new tan could emphasise dry areas, hyperpigmentation (dark spots), blemishes, and bumps on the skin.
We like to use Dripping Gold’s Tan Removal Mousse to remove stubborn, old tan and ensure our skin is as fresh as possible before re-applying.
The product contains Vitamins A & E and allows your skin to become tan free skin in minutes.

2. Prep your skin
Next, ensure that your skin is prepped and exfoliated.
Removing dead skin cells and old tan, and gently cleansing your skin, will ensure your self-tan goes on easily, without any patchiness.
Use Dripping Gold’s Pre-Party Body Scrub in the shower to deeply cleanse and exfoliate your skin with natural and mineral exfoliants including salicylic acid (BHA), volcanic sand, pumice and ocean-friendly bio-cellulose.
Make sure that you dry your skin thoroughly after the shower, and then you’re ready to apply your tan.

3. Apply in sections
One of our favourite tans has got to be Dripping Gold’s Liquid Luxe Tan. The silky liquid formula glides onto skin so easily, providing an airbrushed, gorgeous glow.
It’s also packed with healthy hydrating ingredients including Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamins A&E and more, to ensure that your skin is not just hydrated, but that the tan wears off naturally and evenly, with no patches.
One of the most effective ways to apply tan is to do everything i sections. Massage the self-tan into your skin in a circular motion using a tanning mitt or Dripping Gold’s own Kabuki Brush.
If you’re worried about tan gathering in any dry areas or you want to ensure the tan reaches every contour of your body, then a Kabuki Brush is the best way to go.
And lucky for us, Dripping Gold offer them in both regular and mini sizes!

4. Prolong your tan
Once you have your beautiful bronzed glow you may look fabulous, but you want to make that tan last as long as possible.
The best way to do this is to moisturise with a gradual tan moisturiser after every shower.
If you are on holidays where you’re more active and maybe out in the sun more, we recommend doing this every day – along with your suncream of course!
We use Dripping Gold’s Glowing Steady Gradual Tan to give our skin that gorgeous, soft and hydrated feeling we crave after a day out and about.
The gradual tan formula is ultra hydrating, safe for sensitive skin and even helps improve skin tone – the perfect option to top up and freshen tan that might be fading.
