RTE have dropped the Voice of Ireland to make way for a brand new talent show, which just so happens to be Dancing with the Stars!
It’s been rumoured for the past few months that The Voice of Ireland wouldn’t be commissioned for a sixth series, and now the record has finally been set straight.
RTE have confirmed that the show won’t be returning to our screens, and it’s time slot will be given to the exciting new dance show.
In a statement released by RTE, Channel Controller Adrian Lynch said, “We are delighted to be bringing such a hugely popular format as Dancing with the Stars to RTE One.
“The show has been a global phenomenon, attracting huge audiences where it has aired, and we are confident that Irish audiences will take this home-grown version to their hearts.
“Family entertainment shows are a cornerstone of what RTE One is all about.”
While RTE are happy with the change, former judge Kian Egan is upset to see the Voice go.
Taking to Twitter, he said, “Sad to hear @RTETheVoice will not be returning but what a great 5 years we had! Big thank you to all in Sinawil and all in Rte for a great run.”
We wonder what will be next for the former Westlife star…
