Two new celebrity mums, Karen Koster and Jennifer Maguire, have opened up about heading back to their busy jobs and leaving their babies at home.

Karen will make her TV3 comeback on September 21, after 10 months maternity leave. The Xpose host and her husband John McGuire welcomed their son Finn on New Year’s Eve.

The anchor will return to work on a part-time basis, but insisted she cannot think of anything more important than the well-being of her child. She told Evoke.ie: “Child care is expensive, but as my mother-in-law said – can you think of anything better to spend your money on? He’s the most important thing in our lives.”

How cute?

The 34-year-old added: “I always wanted to go back. But I’m wondering how big will the pull be, leaving the baby at the creche in the morning.”

Meanwhile, new mummy Jennifer Maguire has revealed how she felt about returning to work only 10 weeks after giving birth. The Breakfast Republic star welcomed her first child in March, a girl named Florence.

Jennifer says she’s taking each day as it comes. The radio and tv star, who is getting ready to launch her own spin off show with Bernard O’Shea called ‘Bridget and Eamon’, says that returning to work has been easier than she thought it would be.

I just wanted to get back to work. I didn’t want to be seen differently,” she said.

“Once you get over the guilt of leaving them at home you’re fine,” she told RTE TEN at the RTÉ2 autumn launch. She says it’s thanks to her hubby Lau Zamparelli that she is able to be a working mother without the guilt.

“It’s great. (Florence) much prefers being with her dad. He’s great fun and I’m a nervous wreck.” Despite handing over the reigns to Lau, Jennifer admits she still fusses over her only child.

“I just want to wrap her up in cotton wool and keep her inside,” she admitted. ‘But it’s great. Everything’s going well.”
