Ed Sheeran has spoken out saying he is “deeply concerned” about online touters, who are selling tickets to his highly anticipated Irish and UK gigs for rip-off prices.

Many of the singer’s fans were left very disappointed yesterday after tickets to his Croke Park gigs sold out in just three minutes – and to add salt to their wounds, touters are selling tickets to his shows on secondary sites for elevated prices.

The original price of the tickets were between €76 and €86 and moments after tickets were gone from Ticketmaster, some sites had them selling for ten times the price.

Fans have taken to Twitter to slam touters:

The Shape of You singer has teamed up with face value ticket platform Twickets to prevent touting, but despite their best efforts, tickets are still being sold on secondary sites at rip-off prices.

In response to fans’ disappointment and frustration, a representative for Sheeran told the Press Association: “We are vehemently opposed to the unethical practices that occur in the secondary market.

“We have written to each of our partners, be them promoters, venues or ticketing companies detailing the way in which we expect tickets to be sold: direct to fans.

“We have also partnered with a company called Twickets (www.twickets.co.uk) which is a site aimed at the ethical resale of tickets, which allows fans to swap tickets at face value or less; we are pushing them as the official resale partner and a safe place for fans to swap tickets.

“We are aware and deeply concerned about the websites in question and have urged all fans not to engage with them in order to avoid being ripped off with higher prices or, potentially, counterfeit tickets.

“Once again, we urge all fans to only purchase tickets through official vendors.”

However, it’s not all over yet for fans, as Ed’s manager has hinted that he will be playing another Irish gig.

In the mean time, here’s some soothing listening for all you disappointed fans:
