ABBA singer Benny Andersson has opened up about Mamma Mia 2, and shared some very interesting details.
While many might expect that the movie will be a sequel to the first film, it looks like it will also partly be a prequel.
“It’s more of a prequel really, because it’s about everything that happened before they ended up on Kalokairi island,” Benny told The One Show.
“It’s Donna when she was young, Meryl Streep when she was young, and what happened when she met the three dads. As well as what happened after the previous film finishes. So it’s a prequel and a sequel.”
The film will feature most of the original cast, with Cinderella star Lily James starring as a young Meryl Streep.

Pierce Brosnan will also return as Sam Carmichael and will be singing once more.
When Benny was asked if the Irish actor would be using his vocals in the new film, he said: “Absolutely, because he’s a good singer.”
Speaking back in July, Pierce told USA Today that he was very excited about his return.
“I’m looking forward to it enormously. It was criminal how much fun we had the first time,”
“I think the world is ready for Mamma Mia 2, and I believe the world is ready to hear me sing once more.
“He says that tongue firmly in cheek,” Brosnan joked. “Maybe that was my problem, my tongue was firmly in my cheek when I was singing.”
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! is expected to be released in the UK and Ireland on July 27, 2018.
