Baz Ashmawy has revealed that spin-off versions of his hit show 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy make him less inclined to go ahead and make a fourth series of the programme.

Baz launched the hugely successful show back in 2014 with his mum Nancy and it was so well received that it was picked up by the US Discovery Channel.

However, after the show made a name for itself internationally, a number of programmes with a similar premise started popping up across the world.

Although Baz admits he doesn’t resent anyone for making a show similar to his, he does think it’s one of the reasons he’s less inclined to make a fourth series.

“I had such a good time making 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy with my mum,” he told The Irish Sun. “So it would be hard to resent somebody doing it with their mum if they get the same thing out of it.

But as far as ideas go, that’s just TV. I created a little genre and what has happened is maybe one of the reasons that I’m kind of done with it now.

“As soon as other people are making spin-offs or rip-offs of it, you just kind of think, ‘Well maybe there’s something else we should try now’.

Baz’s mum Nancy has said she has no immediate plans to start filming a new series, as she intends to relax and sun herself in the Canaries – on her own!

“I’ve a one way ticket to the Canaries. So I think that answers everything — and it’s a single.” she said.

However, Baz said tracking his mum down on her solo vacation could be a new show in itself!

“I’ll have to track her down.” he said.

“There could be a show in that itself — me trying to find her. But for the moment, we have nothing planned.”
