Michael Flatley has spoken out after he was asked to stage a show for Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony later today – and he’s insisted the invitation is “a great honour”.

Parts of the 58-year-old’s popular show Lord of the Dance – Dangerous Games will be staged as part of the inauguration celebrations later today, as Donald Trump is initiated as the 45th US president.

Although the Chicago born dancer won’t be starring in the show, he will oversee his dancing troupe and introduce them on stage.

“Michael will set the scene for his dance troupe who will do most of the dancing,” a source told The Irish Times.

Many people have been highly critical of his participation in the controversial inauguration, but Michael insists that he’s proud to be involved.

“We have performed for many presidents,” he told the Irish Independent. “It is always a great honour to be asked. This is a very special night and it is a great honour to be invited to be part of it.”

Michael will introduce his troupe at the celebrations in Liberty Ball in Washington tonight and he’s expected to meet Donald Trump and Mike Pence at the event.
