Tommy Bowe announces retirement from rugby

Tommy Bowe has revealed he’s retiring from rugby later this year.

The sporting legend will be hanging up his boots at the end of this coming season.

“I’ve spent most of my career in Belfast, At first George said I wasn’t fast, I eventually found my gears, Had some incredible year, But it’s time to tell you – this is my last,” he said on social media.

An array of fellow players and broadcasters have been quick to congratulate Tommy on his retirement, and thank him for his contribution to the sporting world.

Brian O’Driscoll said, “Outstanding career from this poet. Great team mate and as much a player for the hard track as for the trenches.

“Was a pleasure and honour to wear green (and red on occasion) with you Tommy.”

Simon Zebo added, “Congrats brother, not a bad old career in fairness. One of the best to ever do it.”

RTE’s Des Cahill also said, “Congrats on a great career, Tommy Bowe – brilliant.”
