The annual Rose of Tralee festival took place in County Kerry over the past two nights, with the overall winner crowned live on RTE last night.

Jennifer Byrne, the Offaly Rose took home the crown, on a night where talents were displayed, songs were sung and a Rose confused Ireland with being in the UK.

The festival always generates much excitement on social media, with the whole event trending on different sites throughout the two nights.

And it seems now that the success of the Roses isn’t going to be slowing down anytime soon.

This year’s festivities drew in an overall audience of 637,000, as opposed to the 618,000 who tuned in last year. This is a turnaround for ratings, which had decreased by 33% in the past six years.

We’re sure Daithi is delighted with the results!
