XFactor auditions have been well underway for weeks in the UK, and today the reality show hits Dublin for the first time since 2010.

Judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger will be in Croke Park today as they hunt for Ireland’s next big star.

Louis revealed to RTE Ten that the show is not just looking for great singers, but great personalities too.

“The background team has already been here, so we’ll see whoever they picked. They pick whoever they like and we’ll see them, in Croke Park. Then we audition, we interrogate them, we find out the ones with personalities.

“We’re not just looking for great singers… We want personalities, and people with ambition and work ethic and all of that,” he said.

The 63-year-old is hopeful of finding some fresh Irish talent for the live shows this year- the next Niall Horan perhaps?

“I expect to get some really good people here.

“And I hope we get somebody really good for the live shows. I’m sure we will,” he said.

Although the Mayo native admitted that he enjoyed his time off last year, he is excited to be back. Louis also revealed that it’s just like the old days on the XFactor set again with the return of himself, Sharon, Nicole and Dermot O’Leary.

“I had a year off and I had a great time. It was the best thing ever, not to be there – especially when the ratings were down. It was great and I had a really good time.

“But this time around it’s just brilliant fun. It’s not like work anymore. We show up and we have a great time. We all know each other very well and we just, y’know, we have fun.

“It’s going fantastic with the new judges. They’re the best. It’s fun, it’s like the way it used to be in year one and year two. We all get on incredibly well, Sharon and Nicole are brilliant. They’re just very funny.

“It’s all going really, really well. Dermot O’Leary’s back on board and it’s just the old team. Simon’s laughing an awful lot. It’s like the good old days,” he said.

We can’t wait to see what this series has in store for us, it sounds like it could be the best yet!
