Colin Farrell has opened up about his relationship with his children.

The actor has two kids from two previous relationships and admits it is hard to find time to hang out with them.

His first son, James Padraig is fourteen and Henry Tadeusz is 8.

Speaking on the Ellen Degeneres show, Colin admitted that his sons weren’t impressed with his part in Dumbo as they are slightly too old.

“James and Henry came to see me, and I thought that it would get me some brownie points with Henry but he went ‘hmm, Dumbo…’

“I think I missed the cool window by about two years because he’s eight now, I don’t think Dumbo is cool enough for him”

“Both boys were really bored by what they saw.”

“Because there are no animals in the film, you are just following a tennis ball around and then they create the elephant after the fact.

“But they did think the set was beautiful.”

The Irishman also revealed he hopes they don’t follow his career path.

“I hope not,” he joked.

“Both my boys can do whatever they wish to do, as long as they are happy and discovering life and surrounded by decent people.”

When he was complimented by Ellen for being ‘a good dad’, he revealed it’s tough to be away from them.

“I don’t know about that. I’m away for a long time, like five months on the road.”

“Five months away from my kids, is a lot for both moms, who are incredible mothers, and it’s a lot for my boys because I miss them both so much.

“They come and visit a lot but it’s not… thank god for facetime.”
