Station bosses respond to claims that Al Porter is to make a return on RTE radio

He has been off the air since late last year

Al Porter

Al Porter has been off Irish airwaves for over two months now, after his decision to step down from his presenting role at Today FM.

The 24-year-old also gave up his part in The Olympia Panto, following allegations made regarding misconduct by the comedian.

Earlier this week, an RTE boss hinted that he may be back in the public eye soon.

“Al is a very talented guy, and we haven’t seen how the next few months will settle with Al,” Dan Healy from RTE told the Sun.

“The reality is he is a guy who oozes talent.

“I don’t think he plays for 2fm.

“That doesn’t mean that RTÉ won’t engage him in the future if all the matters are resolved.

“Until he is through all that, we won’t comment on that one way or another.”

However, RTE have since confirmed that they ‘won’t be working with Al Porter’.

Al stepped down from his Today FM radio show last November and admitted that “Up until now, I had been unaware of these complaints or the impact of my conduct and I am truly sorry for any distress I may have caused in what I had regarded as light-hearted and good-natured circumstances.”
