Smyths Toy Store issues urgent product recall on popular children’s toy

Hugely popular children’s store Smyths has issued an urgent product recall on one of their toys.

The electronic toy is being recalled due to ‘several incidents regarding the plug/charger.’

The race car game, called ‘Furious Challenger’ is an electric power road racing set.

Smyths is urging anyone with the affected toy to return it to their nearest store.

It also asked that anyone who has purchased the toy with batch number 1706 should stop using it immediately and return it to the store for a refund.

The toy in question was sold in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK from 7th August 2017.

In a statement, the store said: “Smyths Toys has been made aware of several incidents regarding the plug/charger on this toy. No injuries have been reported. The product was sold in the United Kingdom, Republic Of Ireland and Northern Ireland.”

“Batch placed on the market from the 7th August 2017. The affected batch number is 1706. The batch code can be found on both the packaging and on the track itself.”

“Consumers should take the recalled toy away from children. Please return this item to a Smyths Toys Superstore for the product to be inspected and a refund issued. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
