Ruth Negga has revealed her number one fear for Oscar night, ahead of the award ceremony this Sunday.

The Irish-Ethiopian actress is gearing up for one of the most talked about moments of her career this weekend and she’s admittedly incredibly nervous.

Ruth is nominated in the Best Actress category for her portrayal of Mildred Loving in Loving and she faces some stiff competition, as she is up against Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, Meryl Streep and Isabelle HuppertHowever, her biggest goal on the night won’t be beating this impressive list of leading ladies, but rather not falling down in front of everyone at the glitzy bash!

“The great thing about filming when you’re prepping for this is that you don’t really think about the nerves, so they’re starting to land now.” she said on RTE’s Morning Ireland.

“Most of all, I’m hoping not to fall over – that’s the main goal!

“I have a really good team, I’m wearing a very beautiful dress. It does take a long time to get ready, but thats something that I want to enjoy and I want to savour it.”

Ruth's received high critical acclaim for her role in Loving.

Speaking about her Oscar nod, Ruth said it was completely “unexpected” and she still can’t believe it’s true – despite the award ceremony being on this Sunday.

“I really wasn’t expecting it genuinely, so I didn’t set my alarm for the reading out and I took my phone off airplane mode and my messages went from like nine to 98 within seconds and I thought ‘this is either really good news or people are really enjoying telling me bad news’, but luckily it was the former.

“I think I went into a bit of a state of shock, I couldn’t really process it and it still can’t process it, even though I know it’s on Sunday.”

We here at VIP Towers wish Ruth all the luck in the world this Sunday.
