RTE sports presenter Jacqui Hurley, has spoken out publicly about the tragic loss of her younger brother Sean, five years ago.

Sean sadly passed away in 2011 following a car accident in Cork that happened due to torrential rain.

Speaking to the RTE Guide, Jacqui said,“Sean was always a glass half-full person. He was one of life’s happy people, on the go all the time.

“His death taught us how precious life is but it has also taught us how to live life a little bit differently.”

The mother-of-one also opened up about her sadness at her son not getting to meet his uncle. She even thought about naming her son Luke after Sean, but in the end felt it was too painful.

“It broke my heart that Sean never got to meet his nephew. We even toyed with the idea of calling our child Sean – but it would have been too overwhelming to have another Sean around,” she said.

Despite the sadness though, Jacqui said that Luke reminds her of Sean everyday .

“He looks like him and acts like him. It’s like having another little Seanie around the place,” she concluded.
