Roz Purcell has revealed that her sister’s cancer diagnosis was hard for her parents to come to terms with. Roz’s sister Rachel was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia earlier this year.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror the Natural Born Feeder blogger said that her parents found 28-year-old Rachel’s diagnosis difficult because they wanted to be able to protect her.

“My parents say it was the worst few weeks when we found out because we didn’t really have a proper diagnosis and it’s the worst if it’s your child because you’re supposed to be there to protect them.

“We’ve all become more conscious of spending more time together because you really don’t know what will happen.

“Especially since out of all of us Rachel was probably the healthiest. She would have done everything in moderation, whereas me and our other sister probably overtrain a little,” she said.

While Rachel is doing well at the moment, Roz said that she can’t help but keep an eye on her.

“She’s doing really well, you wouldn’t know anything is wrong with her.

“I pay attention to how she’s feeling a bit more, like if she looks a bit tired, although you wouldn’t want to be saying that to them, but if she’s overworking I’ll call her out on it. I don’t want to act different but I suppose I keep an eye on her a bit more,” she said.

We’re glad to hear that Rachel is keeping well.
