Robert Sheehan has nothing but praise for his former on-screen love, Ruth Negga.

The pair starred together as love’s young dream, Darren and Rosie in Love/Hate and developed a close friendship after working on the show for a number of years. Since the series ended they both moved to L.A. and achieved individual solo success.

Ruth was recently nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Mildred Loving in Loving – and Robert couldn’t be happier for her.

“We hadn’t spoken in a while but we were chatting the other day a bit.” he told the Irish Mirror.

“How fantastic is that? I actually watched the movie the other night and she just broke my heart in two in the film.

“She’s magnificent, she’s brilliant.”

Ruth's received high critical acclaim for her role in Loving.

Robert is also currently experiencing a career high, as he is one of the leading stars in the latest series of Sky’s thriller Fortitude. He plays the role of Vladek Klimov, a character who is pretending to be an electrician, but actually has an ulterior motive.

“Vladek is a kind of mysterious character who comes to the town of Fortitude,” Robert said.

“He’s kinda surrounded in mystery – I’m reluctant about what I can and am supposed to say. It’s great when you get something as interesting and high profile as that, with a character so bonkers and completely out there, like nothing you’ve ever done before.

“There’s a lot of different good ingredients thrown together.”

We’re delighted to see them both doing so well!
