Pippa O’Connor has had a busy 2016. From releasing her award-winning book Simple Tips to Live Beautifully to debuting her stunning POCO by Pippa denim range, the 30-year-old will have a well-deserved break this Christmas.

However, all of the success does come with a tinge of sadness due to the absence of her mum Louise, who sadly passed away in 2014. In this month’s VIP Magazine, the businesswoman exclusively told us that she feels that her mum has been watching over her on her journey, and that she would have been extremely proud of her achievements.

“Oh she definitely is (my guardian angel). It’s funny, even writing the book, I kept subconsciously mentioning her and saying things like, ‘mum introduced me to this’ or ‘when I was 9-years-old I went to London with mum for the first time.’ That was a nice way to remember all those times. I suppose when you’re writing a book, you go back over your past and the influences you had growing up.

“She would get such a kick out of everything that’s been going on, especially over the last year. She would be in the hairdressers telling everyone who would listen to her!

“Like any mother she would be so proud. It is very hard, because I know how delighted she would have been to see it all,” she said.

The mum-of-two told us that her grief is not limited to any particular day. Although the festive season can be tough, she feels somewhat prepared missing her mum at this time of year.  On the opposite side of this though, Pippa is excited for Christmas this year because Ollie understands what’s happening, and it’s a very magical time. It will also be Louis’ first ever Christmas.

“I don’t know. I think sometimes with occasions like anniversaries or Christmas, you can almost prepare yourself. A normal Monday can seem just as bad as any ‘significant’ day. I don’t think any time us better or worse. It’s different for everyone, but that’s my take on it.

“It’ll be lovely. Ollie is fully aware of it all now. Louis obviously doesn’t have a breeze! But I’m excited for Ollie this year, because he’s really excited,” she said.
