We’d advise you to get out in an enjoy the sunshine today while you still have the chance, because it’s not going to last.

While it will remain mostly sunny for today, it might end as quickly as tonight.

“There is a risk of thundery showers this evening pushing up from the south. It will be a warm day with top temperatures reaching 21 to 26 degrees and moderate southeasterly winds will freshen for a time this afternoon,” Met Eireann reveals.

It will stay warm tonight but there is a high risk of thundery showers spreading northwards.

The rest of the week looks as if its going to be a combination of wet and warm with high temperatures and heavy rain.

Met Eireann said: “Wednesday will start cloudy and humid with showery rain turning heavy and the risk of thundery downpours, which may lead to spot flooding. The rain will clear northeastwards during the afternoon with fresher and cooler conditions spreading into the southwest and west. Afternoon temperatures will reach 16 to 22 degrees in moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds which will veer west to northwesterly and increase fresh to strong and gusty.”

Thursday is when it begins to get a little cooler with the addition of more rain.

On Friday we’ll see a breezier day with rain turning persistent and heavy at times, especially in the west and north. The showery rain is likely to continue on Friday night.

The weekend will see some scattered showers but also sunny spells.  Top temperatures will be in the mid to high teens.

So if you were promising yourself all week you’d go for a swim or get out in the sunny weather, today might be your best bet.
