Former Love/Hate actor Aaron Heffernan has shown his support for the Repeal movement, which was set up to encourage Irish citizens to repeal the 8th amendment.

Appearing on the Repeal Project‘s Instagram account, Aaron said that he feels that women should be given the right to choose what happens to their body.

Taking to social media, Aaron said, “Regardless of the moral or ethical implications and social stigmas and national traditions, religious or judicial or otherwise, the very fact that a medical procedure of such weight and life-altering importance is illegal is an utter anachronism.

“The onus is on the individual or couple in question to make a choice. When the choice is denied and the option destroyed, this climate of shame and law-breaking and judgement and escape is bred.

“I’m prochoice because the option should be there and the the choice only theirs. Their prerogative. Her body. Their business. End of. #repealthe8th,” he said.

Aaron isn’t the first Irish celeb to show his support for the project, as other Irish stars such as Angela Scanlon and Brendan Courtney have also been photographed wearing the jumpers.
