Louise McSharry has revealed that a photo of her is being used in a fake wedding story online.

The 2fm DJ took to Twitter to share a screenshot of the article which claims to be about a bride who lost weight for her wedding day.

“This Facebook page (which has only three likes) is promoting a post which uses our wedding photo with an absolute bullshit story and links to a non-existent story on a bot site,” she said.

“The irony is that the only reason that photo exists on the internet is because it was used in a piece I wrote for The Pool about NOT losing weight for my wedding,” she revealed.

In a piece for the now defunct women’s site, The Pool Louise wrote a powerful piece on body acceptance surrounding her big day.

“I glowed. I laughed. I danced until five o’clock in the morning. I was beautiful. I was a size 20, I was beautiful and I was myself. Because I am not a work in progress. I am not a thin person trapped inside a fat person’s body. I am not waiting “until I lose the weight” to live my life. I have no “inner fatty”, because I am my inner fatty and my outer fatty and every kind of fatty and that’s OK. Even on my wedding day,” she said in the article.

On Twitter Louise said that she has a friend working Facebook who is looking into the contradicting false story that is circulating.

“So don’t be worrying,” she said.

“It’s just so strange.”

She’s not the first Irish celebrity who’s been targeted by false stories about them online.

A few months ago, Amy Huberman warned fans about a fake story online which said she was promoting skin care products.

More recently, presenter, Miriam O’Callaghan revealed that she is set to sue Facebook over false stories.

She had been the subject of an ad for face cream, that falsely states that she has left RTE, and had been ‘axed due to erratic behaviour.”

Speaking out, the mother of seven has revealed that she is suing Facebook for allowing the defamatory content to be shared.

“It’s gone from ‘I’ve launched my own face cream’ to ‘I have been sacked and axed because of my erratic behaviour’ as clickbait, to get people to read about this face cream and buy it.” Miriam told The Sunday Times.
