Former X Factor judge Louis Walsh has taken another dig at the show, backing Strictly Come Dancing as the winner of the ratings battle this year.

Last weekend’s Strictly launch overlapped with the X Factor by less than half an hour, and saw them pulling in an extra one million viewers.

Louis, who was replaced on the show by BBC Radio One presenter Nick Grimshaw, believes Strictly will gain more viewers than ever because of their impressive celebrity line-up.

The Irishman is particularly interested in seeing how Daniel O’Donnell does on the show, and believes people have underestimated his popularity.

Speaking to the Sunday People, Louis said, “I don’t think Simon knows how popular Daniel is. I wouldn’t bet on X Factor beating Strictly because with Daniel and Peter Andre, it’s going to be amazing.”

He added, “Booking Daniel is fantastic for Strictly. I think he’s going to be great for ratings.”

After these comments, we’re not so sure Simon will want Louis back…
