Louis Walsh’s hopes for an Irish version of Britain’s Got Talent have been dashed – and he’s not happy.

The former X Factor judge had pitched his idea of Ireland’s Got Talent to TV3, but the broadcaster isn’t interested.

Boss of the station, Lynda McQuaid, said Louis is still adamant that the talent show would work well on Irish screens, but she disagrees.

“I would love to do something with Louis,” she stated. “We had something that we were going to do pre-Christmas which was in and around the X Factor and then that didn’t happen.

“We’ve had a long debate, myself and Louis. But I don’t think Ireland’s Got Talent is very TV3, I don’t think it would work. I don’t think we have a culture of working men’s clubs which is where it came out of. They now search the world for their acts, shows like Britain’s Got Talent.”

She added: “So my feeling is that an Ireland’s Got Talent would start to feel very parochial, very quickly. So that’s been ruled out. He’s not happy about that because that’s the one he really wants to do and he disagrees with me, he thinks that the talent is out there.”

Maybe next time, eh Lou-Lou?
