Karen Koster reveals details of new show ‘Mammy Guilt’

The show is half way through filming

The presenter has some wise words for aspiring tv stars.

Karen Koster has shared some brand new insight’s into her TV3 documentary ‘Mammy Guilt’.

The show, which the mum of two pitched to station herself, centres around busy working mums being away from their kids, and how different mothers deal with different situations.

Although the documentary is still in production stages, Karen says she’s already learned a lot from the experience.

“It’s going really good, we’re half way through filming it!” Karen told VIP.

“It’s been a big learning curve. We’re interviewing a lot of mums at the minute, not so much dads because I’m kind of approaching it from my point of view.

“I’m meeting mum’s from all walks of life. You know, the high-flying mum’s who have worked for Google and Facebook who had to live apart from her kids, to the Doctor who is trying to be consultant, and again, doesn’t get to see her kids from Monday to Friday.

“Also, the mum who has home-schooled her six kids and is never away from them. It’s really interesting, and every time I walk into a house I’m going to be like ‘I know this isn’t for me’. Like I know I could never home-school, and I know I could never be away from my kids five nights a week.

“And yet, you realise how much we all have in common. When you get to talk to a mum, its such a unifying thing. You’re all in this shared experience together, there’s a lot more sisterhood there than I thought. I thought, you know, we’re very harsh on each other and judge each other’s choices, but actually I’m realising that women aren’t as judgemental as I thought they might be.

“We’re all realising that we’re just trying to do the best that we can, do right by our kids and not mess them up. We all have the same doubts, same worries, but at the end of the day you’ve got to trust your gut and do what’s right for your family.”
