Irish X Factor contestant Brendan Murray has made it through to the live shows of this year’s competition.

The Galway man, who represented Ireland in the Eurovision last year, is one of judge Louis Tomlinson’s four boys who will be singing live for public votes next weekend.

With a stunning rendition of Sinead O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U, the 21-year-old wowed Louis, as well as his guest judges Liam Payne and Nile Rogers.

Following the episode airing last night, Brendan took to Instagram to share his excitement for the live shows.

“I can’t put into words how I’m feeling. Every emotion under the sun.” the former Hometown singer captioned a sweet shot of him and Louis.

“I’ve never been more ready. Thank you.”

Brendan recently spoke to VIP about his journey on The X Factor, and how is former manager Louis Walsh has had little to do with his success.

“Me and Louis have gone down our different paths,” Brendan revealed.

“To be honest we haven’t been in touch. I’m not too sure if he’s seen me on TV or not.

“I’m here on my own, I’ve done this all by myself and I just want to put that across that I’ve done this all on my own.

“The support of my parents has really pushed me too. I went in with a lot of self doubt – there was a lot of competition there and a lot of fresh faces so I didn’t know what to expect.”

“I’m well able and I’ve done this by myself.”

Huge congratulations to Brendan!
