The Late Late Toy Show is back tonight – and you’re certainly not going to want to miss this.

Much to the delight of many a Disney fan, The Jungle Book has been revealed as the theme of this year’s show, but despite how exciting that is, it’s said to be Ryan Tubridy’s costume which will get people talking later in the evening.

Head of RTÉ’s costume department, Brigette Horan said, “The Jungle Book theme has really inspired us and led to some of our most creative costume designs ever. It has been really fun to work on, particularly Ryan’s costume, which is a sight to behold!”

Ryan shared a few details of the big outfit, telling Jim Jim and Nobby on the Strawberry Alarmclock, “We put a fair bit of work into it but I wreck it – the dancing, the kids, they’re all running around and there’s a sort of order about it, and then I come in.

“And actually the suit – the outfit – the costume – I’m wearing this year is total ‘Blobby’ – do you remember Mr Blobby? Everywhere I go, I knock things over.

“When I went into rehearsals one of the days during the week, you can knock stuff – and kids – over and cause chaos.”

Despite the possible costume, Ryan is over the moon at this year’s choice, and can’t wait to get out onto that stage for his show-opening performance.

The host of the night has said, “I am tremendously excited that we are doing The Jungle Book this year. It’s a great classic, a real family favourite and something which I think everyone can enjoy whether they’re young or old, boy or girl.

“I may not be the king of the singers but I hope that for a couple of hours tonight people will get a chance to settle down with the family and forget all about their worries and their strife.”

Be sure to tune into the show when it airs on RTE One at 9.35pm, or watch it live on the RTE Player.
