Glenda Gilson has revealed that her pregnancy came at the perfect time.
The TV presenter has been married to Rob McNaughton since 2014, and explained they always intended to spend some quality time with just the two of them first.
“We had said we wanted a year to enjoy just being married and that went by so quickly, then you’re into your second and third year and you start to really think about children,” she told the RTE Guide.
“It couldn’t have happened at a better time; we’ve had our fun, we’ve had our nights out, we’ve enjoyed our time together and got ourselves a little dog. We’re just delighted, really, really happy,” she added.
The model and host also added that she finds it ‘quite strange’ to be going taking time off work for maternity leave when she herself had covered the other Xpose hosts over the years.
“I’ve been covering everyone else and sure I got the job through maternity leave,” she said.
“All the girls over the years – Lorraine, Sybil, Aisling, Karen, Michelle – they’ve all gone off and had babies and now that it’s my turn, it’s quite strange. I’m kind of still pinching myself.”
Glenda announced that she and Rob McNaughton were expecting their first child back in April, revealing that she would be due in November.
Speaking at the Peter Mark VIP Style Awards, Glenda said she felt she couldn’t keep it a secret any longer.
“I’m in studio every day, you’re trying to dress around it, and you know, with this event you’re always drinking and partying. I won’t be, I’m driving.
“You just kind of get sick of telling lies, I’m running out of lies. And my mom and dad are all excited and they want to tell people, and Rob’s parents so it’s kind of like ‘can we tell people yet?’”
