Aoibhin Garrihy has revealed that she has no desire to move back to Dublin, despite regularly travelling up for work.

The actress, who is originally from Dublin’s Castleknock, is now living in Clare with her husband John and their baby Hanorah.

Speaking about her busy days travelling around the country for work, she revealed: “I’m used to it now.”

“I met my husband eight years and made the move to Clare about five years ago but I’m still doing three to four days up in Dublin so it’s a lot of commuting,” she exclusively told VIP Magazine.

Aoibhin says that it was more difficult when her baby was much younger, but now that Hanorah is almost six month’s old, it has become easier.

“It was tough when she was small because I was bringing her up with me but now we have help in the west so it’s fine. But I’m used to it.”

The Fair City star added that she has no plans, for now, to uproot her family, as she likes the idea of raising her little girl in the county, and due to John’s hotel business.

“It doesn’t suit to drag us all up because he’s based down there and the hotel is there so we are in Clare for the foreseeable but it’s nice to have a finger in both.”

The Garrihy family spent much of their childhood in Doolin, as their father Eugene owns a ferry company there, and although Aoibhin grew up in Dublin, it’s clear she feels right at home in the west.

“It’s a slower pace, it’s good for my mental health and it’s great to have the best of both worlds – to have the mix of urban and rural life,” she said.

“I’m happiest when I’m heading west, I really am.  That’s now where my family is and also where the dogs are and we get out and enjoy the beach – it’s just a different way of life. It suits me!”
