Hometown band member will perform on this week’s The Late Late Show

Handsome Devil star Andrew Scott will join Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show this week, along with the film’s director John Butler.  They’ll be telling viewers about the inspiring message behind their critically acclaimed movie and what the marriage equality vote meant to them.

The Kinahan clan’s feud with the Hutches saw the biggest outbreak of gangland violence on Dublin’s streets since the 90s but their empire reaches far beyond these shores. On Friday night journalists Owen Conlon and Stephen Breen will reveal how Christy Kinahan, from a respectable north Dublin family, ended up overseeing a global crime cartel worth an estimated €750 million. They’ll also detail the staggering extent of the Kinahan’s empire and why their high profile feud with the Hutches could yet prove to be their downfall.

Television viewers have seen a very different side to Katherine Lynch in the last year. Appearances on Celebrity Operation Transformation and Dancing with the Stars saw the Leitrim-born comedian leave Bernie Walsh for dust. She’ll chat about her life changing year and what the future holds for her. And 50 years after his death, she’ll be paying tribute to her grand-uncle, the poet Patrick Kavanagh.

The new Irish will be in studio as The Late Late Show celebrates some of Ireland’s latest citizens. They’ll tell viewers the stories behind their coming to Ireland and why they’ve decided to stay.

There’ll be a trip down memory lane with a look at the weird and wonderful from the Irish Film Institute’s restoration of classic Irish advertisements. Barry Devlin will guide viewers through some of the most iconic ones.

The winner of Junk Kouture, a national contest encouraging secondary students to create works of wearable art using everyday items that would normally become rubbish, will showcase their design in studio, and Ireland’s Eurovision representative Brendan Murray will take to the stage to perform his ballad Dying to Try.
