HBO bosses have announced they have ordered a pilot for a Game Of Thrones Prequel.

Fans of the hit show are waiting for the eighth season to air in 2019, knowing it will be the final in the current series, but this exciting news may mean there is much more of Westeros to be seen.

HBO bosses have revealed that the show will be set thousands of years before the original series, based on the hugely popular George R. R. Martin books – A Song Of Ice & Fire.

“The series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.

“And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend … it’s not the story we think we know.”

It'll be tough trying to avoid the spoilers!

HBO boss Casey Bloys previously confirmed that any spin off series will be aired at least a year after the original series ends.

“The No. 1 priority in all of this is the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’. I don’t want to do anything with the spin-off or anything that detracts or distracts from that,” he revealed in 2017.

“That season will happen. And my guess is it’ll be at least a year before you [see] anything else. What I don’t want is that the attention to be drawn off the final season, which I think is going to be epic and amazing and have the distraction of a new ‘Game of Thrones’ airing right after it.

“I think it’s best to separate it.”
