Get your sunnies out – Ireland’s set to be hotter than Madrid this week!

It seems that spring has finally sprung!

Finally, the weather we've been waiting for!
Finally, the weather we’ve been waiting for!

Ireland’s temperatures are expected to surpass those of the Mediterranean this coming week.

After a very wet and windy start to March, it seems that spring is expected to well and truly arrive this week.

The sun already made an appearance this morning, and apparently it’s just a taster of what’s to come, as temperatures are expected to soar as high as 17°C.

Ireland will be rivalling some of Europe’s warmest destinations as Athens, Rome and Madrid are expected to see highest temperatures of 15, 16 and 14°C.

A Met Éireann spokesperson said: “Monday will start off mostly cloudy with some patchy drizzle in places.

“It will brighten up during the morning to give a very mild and mainly dry day with some sunny spells.

“Cloud will thicken along west and north coasts with some patchy drizzle at times.

“Highest temperatures of 13 to 17C with moderate west-southwest breezes.”

Here’s hoping the good weather is here to stay!
