We’re going way back to 2003 for Flashback Friday this week as we delve into the archives for a VIP cover shoot with the stunning Kathryn Thomas
14 years ago, Kathryn spoke to us about making her breakthrough into the world of television, her love of travel and her close relationship with her family.
“I really wanted to be an actress,” she revealed to VIP.
“I did speech and drama, went to all the Feis’ and did my exams up to Grade 8. But I felt it wasn’t a secure career, so I applied for communications in DCU.
“I passed my first year exams but I dropped out when I got the job on Rapid. I told myself, if all goes well, fine. If not, I can go back to college. But I haven’t looked back since.
Kathryn, then 24, said her family were alway very close.
“We all get on really well. I lived with my brother David and my sister Linda when we shared a house in Dublin.
“So that was all the usual wet towels on the bed and ‘who’s borrowed my knickers?’, but we had a laugh. Also, my little brother Steven, who’s only ten, is really spoilt.”
